Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic 2015 Results

Easter 2015 dawned overcast with scuds of rain, but fined up to be beautiful weekend. The Easter Classic was again a huge success. Numbers were up with 1467 entrants and over 3000 people on Sunday afternoon attending the prize giving and draw for the boat package, sponsored by Bucaneers and Yamaha.

None of this happens without the hard work of the committee, the sponsors and the members. Thanks go to all of those people.

Seventy nine percent of all fish weighed in were released live back into the river.
The children’s program saw children participating in activities like yabby pumping, net casting, word search, masterpieces created reflecting ocean sustainability and rod casting. They learnt about identifying jenny and buck crabs and also minimum sizes. Most children went back to mum or dad with a tackle box and rod and reel.
There was also a crab catching competition for all ages. The best dressed crab was a great hit.

A donation of $3,000- was made on the final day to the Local Ambulance Committee.
Many families went home very happy having won prizes in the over 100 random free giveaways, or a prize from the ‘chocolate wheel’ (can you have a chocolate wheel with no chocolate?).
